Crêpe black drinks light. Wool black holds a little blue. Silk black throws it straight back at you. Put the three side by side and the eye reads them instantly as different colours, even though every label says the same word.
This is why we do not mix black fabrics within a single garment unless the contrast is deliberate. When you see an ivory panel against our black silk, that is a decision — not an accident of dye lots.
